Leading bank requests high spec. security
The problem
The link between a bank and the need for security is well known. One of Greece’s largest banks approached Cubitech for a centralised monitoring and recording system. A major concern was the length of time footage could be stored, because it may be several weeks before incidents come to light and are investigated. In addition, security staff had to be able to review incidents and download the right images quickly for the police or other investigating authorities.
The solution
Cubitech implemented a solution for monitoring all cameras from a single, central site. Staff can monitor and control cameras directly, with footage being recorded and automatically dated and labelled for easy reference.
Using Intelligent Frame Allocation, important incidents can be recorded in full detail, but the capture rate is reduced during periods when there is no activity in the field of view. In this way, storage space is effectively increased without compromising the integrity of the security system.
The bank's central monitoring personnel can download events from any branch across the country without interruption to local security operations. They can obtain the footage they need at the central station without stopping and swapping video tapes or going to individual locations to retrieve them.
The benefits
-
Centralised monitoring point
-
Long storage period
-
Record only when necessary – more economical and efficient use of storage space
-
Recorded footage automatically labelled and filed for ready reference
-
Immediate downloading of footage
Pharmaceuticals security first
The problem
A multinational pharmaceuticals company needed a system to fulfil a stringent security specification for its operations in Greece. The system needed to align with an existing network, integrating both IP and composite cameras. While control and principle monitoring and recording had to be from a central site, footage had to be accessible by authorised personnel from other locations across the site, and stored at multiple locations.
The size and busy nature of the site made it important to be able to detect unauthorised personnel immediately so that security staff may coordinate a response. Any disruption to the network, vandalism for example, had to be reported at once to IT officials so that immediate action could be taken.
The solution
Cubitech’s solution integrated both IP and composite cameras across the existing network. Although controlled from the IT centre, access to live and recorded video was available across the Greek site. With integrated off-server, multiple-location storage, footage could be included in normal back-up procedures.
Bandwidth consumption is minimised during image transmission by Cubitech’s Bandwidth Limiter so despite the increased load, the network itself continues to perform its other functions satisfactorily.
If unauthorised event is detected, or if a problem occurs resulting in a loss of transmission, the system alerts security staff automatically by e-mail and SMS so that they can take appropriate action.
The benefits
-
Complete integration of IP and composite cameras
-
Complete integration across an existing network
-
Central control
-
Secure access from any on-site location
-
Multiple-location storage
-
Controllable bandwidth usage
-
Automatic email and SMS alerts for specific events
Security firm's security
The problem
A nationwide security firm needed to monitor their premises around Greece. They were particularly concerned about who accesses their safes and vaults, and when they do so. These are accessed simultaneously once a day by authorised personnel and the company wanted to get live visual verification of activities. This is difficult using traditional video monitoring techniques because of the time lapses involved when remotely dialling each site in such a short period of time.
The solution
Cubitech’s solution based on CubisPRO used a variety of connection methods (leased lines, ISDN, LAN and GSM) to connect all sites to a central station. The vaults can all be watched simultaneously. Moreover, if unusual activities are detected, the footage can be rapidly passed back to the affected location so that local security personnel can take action.
The benefits
-
Live, simultaneous transmission to and from multiple locations
-
Secure access from any on- or off-site location
- Central control
Top restaurant seeks unobtrusive security
The Problem
One of Athens’ top restaurants nestles by the crystal blue waters of the Aegean. The atmosphere is romantic and the views spectacular, but the openness of the site made keeping an eye on things a nightmare.
For a busy restaurant manager there is little time for learning and using intricate software packages. Moreover, some parts of the site, like the car park, need to be monitored 24/7. Inside, however, the premises had to be monitored discretely and responsibly to avoid alienating clientele. If something does go wrong, staff must be able to double-check what happened and take action, without disturbing other patrons.
The solution
Cubitech implemented a solution based on a CubisPRO system. Cameras, discretely installed around the restaurant premises, were controlled from a central point located near the cash register. Images from each camera were monitored and recorded according to camera location: 24/7 in the car park, and according to requirement elsewhere. Staff could easily mask off areas in the field of view, assuring the privacy of patrons without compromising security. With its intuitive interface and operation, staff mastered the system quickly and effectively.
The benefits
- Easy-to-use
- Review footage without interruption to monitoring or recording
- Mask off areas to ensure privacy
- 24/7 operation
- Discrete installation
Small-scale monitoring for Gym
The problem
A centrally situated gym needed a small-scale monitoring solution to oversee its premises. The owner wanted to give reassurance to patrons by offering better vigilance of their personal effects and gym equipment. He was also keen to keep an eye on things when not actually there himself.
The solution
Cubitech’s cost-effective solution based on CubisLITE enabled the gym owner to monitor and record activities on the premises, on-site from the reception desk, or off-site via a dial-up modem. He could keep an eye on things from home. The system was simple to set up and use, and staff could be trained in minutes.
As an added bonus, some of the internal cameras could be re-positioned so to view one of the main activity halls so that special events, like Karate displays, could be accessed by family and friends live online.
The benefits
- Cost-effective solution
- Remote access
- Easy-to-use
